first job...i hope it doesn't last...

monday the 25th was the first day of work through a job agency we found a lovely little set up...i'm going to hell...yes...i was telemarketing. gah. $15/hour is a pretty nice deal though...yeah, yeah, i know...no excuse, this is bad karma to say the least. after it was over, it all seemed rather funny. people have the funniest responses. i guess i do the same.

the first few calls were just hang ups...soon after...

* me: "hey, i'm lauren from future first, how are you doin today?
woman: "oh, so you even have that FAKE american accent."
me: ...oh not a fake at all, i really am from virginia...
*click*

* "ahhhhhhh i'm having a heart attack! oh my god, i can feel my heart pounding outta my chest! quick! call an ambulance you asshole!" *click*

* --> old man picks up - "what?!....what?!...i'm sorry i can't hear you, just hold one one second...where'd you say you're from? i'm sorry dear, i'm just an old man..."

and the classic...

* "go to hell!" *click*

* "fuck you!" *click*

yeah, so i moved to new zealand to be a telemarketer..........

hopefully the tried and true footpath will lead me to better places.

after getting home around 1:30 am...the job doesn't end till 1:00 am since we're actually calling over to austrailia, considering the time difference...we were about to fall asleep...and all of a sudden, a noise...then an alarm. at first i was thinking it could have been something to do with a fuse going out. none of the lights worked...walking down the drive and checking out the other houses on the block we realized at least the entire neighborhood had no power. i swear their noises here are gonna totally break my nerves. their loud siren came on...every time it does it sounds like the nazi's are coming. coco assured me that no one would come and bomb us though. it must be the siren to notify volunteer firefighters in the area.

sleep...10 minutes later we got the power back.
